Gardens are not made by singing ‘Oh, how beautiful,’ and sitting in the shade.
Garden quote by Rudyard Kipling

I find early Autumn a wonderful time to spend as much time in the garden as possible now the burning days of Summer are behind us. There are so many possibilities -all the leafy greens can be seeded now, lots of cutting and division can be begun and now is a good time while still fresh in our minds to reflect on how our gardens grew this past Spring and Summer. I have earmarked a number of plants that need to be moved (or given away) to a better place. Of course there are some hot days still and unlike Rudyard (who I expect had an army of gardeners) I do recommend taking the time to sit in the shade, because sometimes thinking about the garden is almost as good as doing in the garden!
